Photography Contest of International Museum Day of Macao, 2024

REGULATIONS

Objective: On behalf of 2024 International Museum Day's theme "Museums for Education and Research", a photo competition under the theme "Macao Coastline" will be organized to encourage photography enthusiasts to document the changes of Macao coastline over time, in efforts to promote the continuous protection of the ocean and marine biodiversity, for a cleaner ecosystem and safer place to live in.

Qualifications: Each participant can participate in only one category and submit one single entry.

• Children Category: Macao residents aged 6~12, born between January 1^st 2012 and December 31^st 2018;
• Youth Category: Macao residents aged 13~18, born between January 1^st 2006 and December 31^st 2011;
• General Category: Macao residents with no age limit.

Entries Requirements:

• The submitted photos must be based on the theme of "Macao Coastline".
• Each Photo must be summited with an application form, along with either a title in Chinese (<15 characters), Portuguese or English (<20 words).
• The submitted photos must be originals. The works cannot be previously published in the public, awarded any prizes or bound by any copyright restrictions.
• Colour or black-and-white photographs (including aerial and panoramic photography) are accepted. Artificial Intelligence (AI) drawings, Computer Generated Images (C.G.I.) and photos by computer processing with special effects are not accepted, but appropriate adjustments or reasonable cropping of brightness, contrast and colour saturation are permitted. And, in case of doubt, participants may be asked to submit their original photo files containing the original data.
• The content and title of the photos cannot contain any indecent or illegal content. Promotion or advertisement of any commercial product or service inside the photo content as well as title is not allowed.
• Photo size & format: Maximum 100MB in .JPEG or .JPG format, image size should be at least with minimum 20 megapixels. Awarded works will be displayed in public and the winners will be asked to provide the original files that meet the necessary printing requirements.

Prizes:

• Children Category: 3 Appreciation Awards, each receiving MOP 700.00 book coupon, a brocade flag and a study tour to Macao Neighbouring Area (winner + 1 companion);
• Youth Category: 3 Appreciation Awards, each receiving MOP 1,000.00 book coupon, a brocade flag and a study tour to Macao Neighbouring Area (winner + 1 companion);
• General Category: 3 Appreciation Awards, each receiving MOP 1,500.00 book coupon, a brocade flag and a study tour to Macao Neighbouring Area (winner + 1 companion).

Registration and Submission of Entries:

• Registration and submission: Only online registration and uploading of entries are accepted. Please visit the "Museums in Macao" website (www.museums.gov.mo), fill in the Google Forms and upload entries, a reply slip will be sent automatically upon receipt of the entries.
• Deadline for submission: 22:00:00 on 26/03/2024 (Tuesday). Late submissions will not be evaluated.

Online Registration and Uploading of Entries

Evaluation:

• The organizers will invite professionals in the fields of art, photography and culture to be the judges. The results are subject to the final judgement of the judges.
• Evaluation criteria: Interpretation of the theme - 40%; Creativity exhibited in photo - 30%; Technical merit of photo - 30%.

Declaration:

• Personal data collected in the Registration Form will only be used for the arrangement of the activity and handled according to the Law of Personal Data Protection of Macao SAR.
• All staff of public or private museums in Macao are not allowed to participate in the Contest.
• All submitted entries will be exhibited at the activities of International Museum Day. The organizers reserve the rights to copy, publish and translate the entries for other exhibitions and promotion without prior permission of the participants or remuneration.
• Any entry determined to be in violation of the Entry Requirements will be disqualified, and winners will be subject to forfeiture of all prizes awarded.
• Any issue not covered in the regulations and clarification of doubts will be the exclusive competence of the organizers.
