Drawing Contest of Macao International Museum Day 2023

REGULATIONS

Organizers: Communications Museum, Macao Science Center, Maritime Museum

Objective: Based on the theme of the International Museum Day 2023 "Museums, Sustainability and Wellbeing", the organizers has launched a drawing contest entitled "Macao International Museum Day 2023 - Exploring the Future Wellbeing". Through the medium of painting, the public are invited to imagine the wellbeing in fields as diverse as communications, science & technology and oceans in the future, and so to strengthen the public's understanding of the connection between museums and future life.

Qualifications: Each participant can only enter in one category and submit one drawing.

  • Primary category: Macao resident, aged 6~11 (till to 01/01/2023);
  • Secondary category: Macao resident, aged 12~18 (till to 01/01/2023);
  • General category: Macao resident, aged 18 or above.

Drawing Requirements:

  • Theme: Select one of the three sub-themes of communications, science & technology or oceans, linked with the general theme "Exploring the Future Wellbeing" as the concept for the drawing creation.
  • Dimensions: The drawing must be drawn by hand on an A3 sized (297mm x 420mm) drawing paper. Computer graphics/designs will not be accepted.
  • Painting materials & colours: Allowed to use poster paint, watercolours, oils, acrylics, sketches, crayons, mixed media, pastels, etc. Any other materials or objects glued on to the graphic drawing are not allowed.
  • Registration Form must be well affixed to the back of the work. An introduction to the concept of the creation should be filled in the form (limit of 150 characters for Chinese, 250 words for English or Portuguese)

Evaluation:

  • The organizers will invite professionals in the relevant field to be the judges. The results are subject to the final judgement of the judges.
  • Criteria of evaluation: Theme & Concept 40%, Art & Creativity 30%, Drawing Techniques 30%.

*Macao In-depth Tour: Tentative to be held in early August, providing bus pick-up service for the whole journey. This event will include an ecological guided tour led by professional scholars, lunch buffet, and a Special Guided Tour of Guia Lighthouse.

Registration and Submission Dates:

  • Registration Form can be downloaded from the "Museums in Macao" portal: www.museums.gov.mo
  • Acceptance & deadline: From now on till 5:00pm on 14/04/2023 (Friday), submissions after deadline will not be evaluated.
  • Submission address: Send by post or submit the completed Registration Form and drawing in person at the Communications Museum, Estrada de D. Maria II, no.7.

Declaration:

  • Personal data collected in the Registration Form will only be used for the arrangement of the activity and handled according to the law of personnel data protection of Macao SAR.
  • All staffs of public or private museums of Macao are not allowed to participate in the Contest.
  • All submitted entries will be exhibited during the activities of International Museum Day. The Organizer reserves the rights to copy, publish, translate, display and promote the entries without prior permission of the participants or remuneration.
  • The submitted drawings will not be returned to the participants. Organizers own the copyright and usage right of the winning drawings.
  • If a prize-winning work were a product of plagiarism, any prize awarded will be considered null and void, and any prize paid will be recovered.
  • Any issues not covered in the regulations and clarification of doubts will be the exclusive competence of the organizers.
