Photography Contest of International Museum Day of Macao, 2021

REGULATIONS

Objective: On behalf of 2021 International Museum Day's theme "The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine", a photo competition using the theme "Revelation from the Epidemic" is organized to encourage photography enthusiasts to document our daily lives in fight against the epidemic. The winning entries will be uploaded to official online platform to share with the public.

Qualifications: Each participant can participate in only one category and submit one entry.

  • Student Category - Macao residents under 18 years old (till 01/01/2021);
  • General Category - Macao residents with no age limitation.

Requirements of Entries:

  • No limitation in photo content but the submitted photos must be based on the theme of "Revelations from the Epidemic" to bring out ideas of science and technology, maritime and communications affairs.
  • Each submitted photo must include either a title in Chinese (< 15 characters), Portuguese or English (< 20 words) and also, a description either in Chinese (> 100 characters), Portuguese or English (< 120 words).
  • The submitted photos must be originally created. The works cannot be previously published in public, awarded any prizes or bound by any copyright restrictions.
  • Color or black & white photos, aerial photography and panoramic photography are accepted. Photos by computer synthetic and/or processing with special effects are not allowed. However, appropriate adjustments to the photo's brightness, contrast and color saturation are allowed.
  • The content and title of the photos cannot contain any indecent or illegal content. Promotion or advertisement of any commercial product or service inside the photo content as well as title is not allowed.
  • Photo size & format: Minimum from 2MB to maximum 10MB in .JPEG or .JPG format, image size should be at least 2000-2500 pixels in longest dimension.
  • Only one photo and its registration form are allowed to attach in each submitting Email. A confirmation email will be sent to the participants within 2 working days upon receipt. Any claims of lost mail due to overload will not be accepted.

Registration and Submission of Entries:

  • Acceptance of Entry & Registration form submitted by Email only: webmaster@museums.gov.mo
  • Deadline for submission: 22:00:00 on 31/03/2021 (Wednesday). Late submissions will not be evaluated.

Evaluation:

  • The executive units will invite professionals in the fields of art, photography and culture to be the judges. The results are subject to the final judgment of the judges.
  • Criteria of evaluation: Interpretation of the theme - 40%; Creativity exhibited in the photo - 30%; Technical merit of the photo - 30%.

Declaration:

  • Personal data collected in the Registration Form will only be used for the arrangement of the activity and handled according to the law of personnel data protection of Macao SAR.
  • All staffs of public or private museums of Macao are not allowed to participate in the Contest.
  • All submitted entries will be exhibited at the activities of International Museum Day. The organizers reserve the rights to copy, publish and translate the entries for other exhibitions and promotion without prior permission of the participants or remuneration.
  • If an entry were a product violated to the requirements, the participation will be considered null and void, and any prize paid to winning work will be recovered.
  • Any issues not covered in the regulations and clarification of doubts will be the exclusive competence of the organizers.
