"One Museum, One Story: Expressing the Power of Museums through Sound"

Objective:

In response to the theme "The Power of Museums" of International Museum Day 2022, a Podcast Competition under the title "One Museum, One Story: Expressing the Power of Museums through Sound" has been organized. Through this podcast competition, the public can share their feelings, experiences and stories of visiting museums in Macao through the medium of sound, so that the public can deepen their understanding and appreciation of museums. It is also a chance for different people to experience the beauty of the museums through navigation of sound without the limitation of space and time.

Qualifications:

Each participant can participate either individually or under a team. A team is formed by a maximum of 5 members, each participant is limited to participate in one category, and each team is limited to submit one entry.

  • Student Category - Macao residents aged 12 to 18 (as of January 1, 2022).
  • General Category - Macao residents aged 18 or above.
Requirements of Entries:
  • Length: 5-7 minutes.
  • Audio file format: mp3, wav, m4a format only.
  • Sample rate: 44.1khz / 48khz; recommended sound level: -16LUFS.
  • After filling out the online application form, a brief introduction of the idea (within 150 words) must be submitted together with the uploaded audio file. Successful registrations will be notified by email.
  • Language: Chinese (Cantonese and/or Putonghua).
  • There is no restriction on the format. Content can be presented in verbal dialogue, talk show or radio drama. Musical works are not accepted.
  • It is not recommended to have more than 4 people dialogue in the recording.
  • Entries must be original, and if content suspected of being copied from other's work, it will be disqualified.
  • Prior approval of recording in any museums is required. A "Recording approval" issued by the organizer will be given to applications and shown to the museum staff during the recording.
Evaluation:
  • The executive units will invite related professionals to be the judges. The results are subject to the final judgment of the judges.
  • Criteria of evaluation: Interpretation of the theme - 50%; Creativity - 30%; Sound quality and fluency - 20%.

1st Prize MOP1500 book coupons, MOP800 cash prize and with certificate MOP2000 book coupons, MOP1000 cash prize and with certificate
2nd Prize MOP1000 book coupons, MOP600 cash prize and with certificate MOP1500 book coupons, MOP800 cash prize and with certificate
3rd Prize MOP500 book coupons, MOP500 cash prize and with certificate MOP1000 book coupons, MOP600 cash prize and with certificate
Appreciation Award: 5 winners for each Category (total of 10). Each winner will get MOP300 book coupons and with certificate
Internet Popularity Award: Total of 6 winners. Each winner will get MOP300 book coupons and with certificate (repeatable with other awards)
Registration and Submission:
  • Registration and submission: To register and upload entries online, please visit the "Museums in Macao" Portal website (www.museums.gov.mo) to fill in the Google form and upload the audio file.
  • Deadline for receipt of entries: From now until Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 10:00 p.m. Entries will not be accepted after the deadline.
Date and Venue of Award Ceremony:

May 29, 2022 at Iao Hon Market Park during Macao International Museum Day Carnival.

Declaration:
  • Personal data collected in the Registration Form will only be used for the arrangement of the activity and handled according to the law of personnel data protection of Macao SAR.
  • All staffs of public or private museums of Macao are not allowed to participate in the Competition.
  • All submitted entries will be exhibited during the activities of International Museum Day. The executive units reserve the rights to copy, publish and translate the entries for other exhibitions and promotion without prior permission of the participants or remuneration.
  • If an entry were a product violated to the requirements, the participation will be considered null and void, and any prize paid to winning work will be recovered.
  • Any issues not covered in the regulations and clarification of doubts will be the exclusive competence of the organizers.
